A Morning Prayer for Forgiveness
You can't change what happened yesterday — but you can stop letting it poison today.
God, I'm carrying an offense into this new day and it's weighing me down. I don't want bitterness to steal another twenty-four hours from me. Help me set it down right here. Not because they deserve it but because I deserve peace. I choose freedom over unforgiveness.
Forgiveness is the gift you give yourself — and today you deserve to walk lighter. Amen.
When to pray this
Forgiveness is not saying it did not matter, and it is not always reconciliation — sometimes it is releasing a debt you were never going to collect anyway. It is also rarely finished in one sitting. You may have to pray this more than once about the same person, and that is normal.
