A Prayer for Fear

Name the fear — because unnamed fears grow bigger in the dark.

God, I'm afraid of failure. Of rejection. Of being found out. Of losing what I have. I name every fear and I drag it into Your light. Fear loses power when I speak it out loud to You. Replace each one with a promise. I am not a hostage to fear — I am a child of God.

Named fears shrink — because they can't survive in the light of God's presence. Amen.

When to pray this

Fear narrows everything. It shrinks your options down to the worst one and then insists that is the realistic view. Naming the specific fear out loud — not fear in general, the actual one — is most of what this prayer is for.
