Prayer

A Prayer for Addiction

The cycle you can't break on your own — God specializes in exactly that.

God, I keep going back to the thing that's destroying me. Willpower alone hasn't worked. I need supernatural intervention. Break this chain that I cannot break myself. Replace the craving with Your presence. Give me strength for the next hour, the next minute, the next breath.

Recovery isn't a straight line, but every step toward God is a step toward freedom. Amen.

When to pray this

Craving rarely announces itself as a decision. It shows up as a small permission you have already half-given yourself. Praying at that moment does something practical: it puts words and a witness between the urge and the act. Recovery is also work that happens with people — a sponsor, a group, a counselor — and prayer belongs alongside that help, not instead of it.
