A Bedtime Prayer for Addiction
If today was a relapse day, grace still has your name on it tonight.
God, I fell again and the shame is suffocating. But I'm not hiding from You. I know Your grace doesn't run out when I mess up. Pick me back up. Dust off the shame. Give me strength for tomorrow that I didn't have today. I'm not done fighting and neither are You.
Falling down doesn't define you — getting back up with God does. Tomorrow is a new fight. Amen.
When to pray this
Craving rarely announces itself as a decision. It shows up as a small permission you have already half-given yourself. Praying at that moment does something practical: it puts words and a witness between the urge and the act. Recovery is also work that happens with people — a sponsor, a group, a counselor — and prayer belongs alongside that help, not instead of it.
