Before you close your eyes tonight, know this — you are covered.
God, I ask for Your protection over me and everyone I love tonight. Guard our minds from dark thoughts. Shield our bodies from harm. Station Your angels around this home. Let no weapon formed against us prosper. We sleep under the shadow of Your wings tonight.
Nothing can touch what God has covered — close your eyes in safety tonight. Amen.
When to pray this
Ask for protection over the people you love and over the places you cannot be. This is one of the oldest and plainest prayers there is, and it does not need dressing up.
