A Bedtime Prayer for Hope
If today knocked the wind out of you, let this be the breath that fills you back up.
God, today was brutal and I'm running on empty. But before I close my eyes, plant a seed of hope in my heart. Remind me that weeping lasts for a night but joy comes in the morning. I'm holding on to that promise with everything I have left.
The night always ends — and morning is already on its way to find you. Amen.
When to pray this
Hope is not optimism. Optimism expects things to go well; hope holds on when there is no evidence either way. Pray this on the days you cannot manufacture the feeling — those are the days it is for.
