Bedtime Prayer

A Bedtime Prayer for Depression

If getting through today took everything you had, I'm proud of you — and so is God.

God, the heaviness won't lift. Everything feels grey and flat. I'm not asking for instant happiness — I'm asking for one ray of light. Meet me in this darkness. Remind me this season doesn't last forever. You are close to the brokenhearted and I need You close right now.

You made it through another day — that's not weakness, that's warrior strength. Amen.

When to pray this

Depression lies about the future and it lies about you, and it is convincing because it uses your own voice. On the days when prayer feels like talking to the ceiling, the praying still counts. Please also tell someone real — a doctor, a counselor, a friend who will follow up. If you are thinking about harming yourself, contact a crisis line or emergency services now; in the US you can call or text 988.
