A Prayer for Grief
Grief doesn't follow a timeline — and you don't owe anyone a recovery date.
God, people keep telling me I should be over this by now. But the hole in my heart doesn't check the calendar. Hold me in this grief without rushing me through it. Let me feel what I need to feel without shame. Walk with me through the valley at my pace.
Grieve as long as you need to — God is patient and He walks slow with the brokenhearted. Amen.
When to pray this
Grief does not move in a straight line and it does not keep to a schedule. It ambushes you in grocery stores months after everyone else has moved on. There is no version of this prayer that makes it faster; it only asks you not to carry it alone.
