A Prayer for Gratitude
Gratitude in the middle of the mess is the most powerful prayer you can pray.
God, nothing is perfect right now but I'm choosing to thank You anyway. Thank You for the fight still left in me. Thank You for the lessons disguised as problems. Thank You for being God when I couldn't be strong. Gratitude is my weapon and I'm swinging it today.
When you thank God in the storm, the storm starts losing its power over you. Amen.
When to pray this
Gratitude is not denial. You can hold real grief and real thankfulness in the same hand. Naming a few specific good things — not the general category of blessings, the specific ones — is what shifts something.
